Thursday, August 23, 2018
Our Riviera & Reagan adventure begins as we motorcoach to L.A.’s Union Station to board the deluxe Coast Starlight train for a relaxing and scenic ride along the coast to Santa Barbara, known as “America’s Riviera.” The Coast Starlight is the only Amtrak train offering an observation car for spectacular ocean views!
In Santa Barbara, our motorcoach will take us to Paseo Nuevo, Santa Barbara’s downtown Mediterranean-style shopping district. Enjoy time at leisure for lunch on your own here and along State Street.
This afternoon we’ll visit the Reagan Ranch Center, located in downtown Santa Barbara. See a 30-minute introductory film about the Reagans’ time at Rancho del Cielo, their ranch located north of Santa Barbara coined “The Western White House.” Then embark on a docent-guided tour of the Center which features several unique collections including campaign memorabilia, commemorative items and letters written by Ronald Reagan over a 50-year period. See a massive 5,000 pound section of the Berlin Wall and President Reagan’s jeep that he used on the Ranch. The centerpiece of the gallery is a 28-foot-long “timeline” that allows you to interact with the history of the Ranch and the events that took place during Reagan’s Presidency.
      We will motorcoach home.

RONALD REAGAN PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY AND
MUSEUM WITH THE GENGHIS KHAN EXHIBIT
THURSDAY JULY 19, 2018

Spend a memorable day at the state-of-the-art, Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum featuring 18 galleries that pay tribute to America’s 40th president. Enjoy approximately 5 hours at leisure to visit a full-scale replica of his Oval Office, see a piece of the Berlin Wall, explore interactive exhibits, read letters written by President Reagan to Nancy and pay your respects at their final resting place with spectacular views of the Conejo Valley.
The Air Force One Pavilion features a presidential limousine and secret service suburban, a Marine One helicopter and the Air Force One airplane that served seven U.S. Presidents.
Also on display for a limited time, Genghis Khan – a comprehensive exhibition of Genghis Khan and his treasures and making it’s only Southern California stop during an international tour. As the exhibit strikingly portrays, Genghis’s reputation as the greatest conqueror is well-deserved – he dominated three times more land in his lifetime than either Julius Caesar or Alexander the Great – a conquest attested to by the formidable array of swords, bows, arrows, saddles and armor on display. In fact, the historic exhibition showcases hundreds of artifacts from Genghis’s 13th century Empire, the largest such collection ever to tour.
Enjoy lunch on your own at the Library’s Country Café or The Pub.
